Powerless quick write

This week for writing we had to watch a video, called powerless then we had to chose if we wanted to retell a short part of the story or we could be one of the characters that experience this. Once we had finished our quick writes we highlighted level 3 and 4 writing features.

The cold dark night sent me to sleep very quickly. I was dreaming. But all of a sudden I could hear the thumping step of all my hard work-fail, no progress. He had awoken. The robot, tall and stubborn, walked right outside during the night, his eyes bright green.

I didn't notice until I finally stepped outside, to see him standing by a brown, long log by the tall leaning trees, underneath the log was a light. A bright red light.

Quickly, I rush over to  help the robot. As we struggled to get him out, I realised that I wasn't the one to set him free. There was something inside of him. Something that wasn't meant to be.

When the light escaped from under the log, it flew away. But all of a sudden so did he, the light from the robot flew away too.

He was gone.

Market day

As you might already know are inquiry that we have been working on is food production, this term we made our own food product and this week we have been getting ready for the senior school market. Today we had our market, I sold sherbet, all together I got $21 that is all going to starship hospital. This is a picture of me with my product already to sell.

Lately in class we have been working on what we are going to do for our advertising.

I have chosen to make a digital poster using Google drawing. Before we started working on our adverts Bella's mum came in to talk about advertising and the best ways to make ours stand out.

Sweet Sizzling Sherbet

At school this term we have been working on making our own food products, my product is sherbet that come in two different flavours, lime and strawberry. We had a class criteria, in week 1 we had to have divided our product, we also had to have an ingredients list, then we got some people to trial each of our products to see if there was anything that had to be changed to the recipe. In week 2 we had to make a packaging design, a logo and we had to decide if we where non-profit or profit. In week 3                                                        which is this week we have to come up with a way we are going to  advertise our product.

Persuasive pizza

For homework this week we had to design a pizza with any toppings we also had to make up a name, my pizza is called Bangers and mash. Once we had finished making our pizza we had to write a persuasive advertisement, this is mine.

In class we have been working on a piece of art work called zentangle, we had to learn lots of skills and different patterns that we could use to put into our art. We then chose our outline that we where going to zentangle inside, we had to section of parts of the animal. 

Geometric shapes

In maths we have been learning about 2D and 3D shapes.

This week we have been working on a 6 pointer star, we had to use rulers and protractors to create it, before we started we learnt about the degrees on a protractor it helped with the lines that formed my 60 degrees star. The last step was to colour in our 6 pointer star.

My egg Chicken's diary

Last week the eggs took over when we all had to look after an egg each each day we had to make an egg diary for all 4 days Chicken which is my egg had a great week.

Tuesday...	Today chicken was brought to life he has having a really good day until his back cracked, not the best
Wednesday...	This morning chicken was very saw with because of his back this is him all tucked up really for bed. Harriet is going to egg sit him today.
Thursday...	Its the second to last day for my egg to see his friend, he had so many including Bob-Harriet's egg Mr potato- Annabels and summers egg-eggy minaj.
Friday...	Today it is the last day for chicken and his friends to see each other he has had I really good week

Quick write photo

In class we have been working on a quick write for this we had to use complex sentences and short sharp sentences.  We also had to bass it on this Picture, which had won the Auckland photo competition. 

The seagulls were soaring up above me. As I read that letter, it made the moment of happiness die down.  I wanted to go free. I took off my shoes, felt the rough dry wood of the wharf under my solid feet. I looked around to see if there was any other way. My brother had done this before. I remember the look on his face as he wobbled in. I stood still. Thinking, focusing,  waiting for that moment.

My heart was pounding in beat of the waves. I got ready to jump. My legs gave way and within a few seconds I felt the freedoms streaming through my blood.

Head first into the freezing water. As my wobbly legs smashed into the glassy sea, I then knew I had done it. I forgot all about the letter and my brother but I knew he would have been proud.

As a part of our writing we had to read Foul shot and then make our own poem built around Foul shot. We also had to make sure that each line was a new idea at that we used strong action verbs and two stanzas.

To the soldier that never came home

As a part of our ANZAC inquiry we had to make a piece of writing to the unknown or to the soldier that never came home. we also had to make sure we had about 5 paragraphs and asked some questions built around the things we learnt in our inquiry work.

Since I can not talk to you in person I will write to you. I do not know your name but I want you to know that I have thought hard about the day that you died and how you had put your name down for the people of your country.

What was it like that day when you first tried on you uniform? Where you exited for the big adventure, or nervous for the day that you would leave all your family and friends.

I can not imagine the day that you landed in the unexpected place, with very hot, dry land. How did you feel when you heard all those deafening sounds for the first time? Or when you held a gun that was going to be used to put other peoples live to an end.

Walking through the masses of dead bodies that where your friends, before you knew that you would die, what was that like? Were you there when all of them just fell to the ground with one single gunshot.

I have heard that most of the food you ate was decomposed is that true? was that all you had to eat?

What about the weapons or heavy uniform you had to wear in the hottest days. As well as clinging onto your gun with hot sweaty hands. Screaming for help if you had badly injured yourself or slowly falling to the ground. Did you give up on saving yourself? Or was it too late?

I know I am only 10 years old but I still remember you every ANZAC day because you went out to save the lives of the people you belong to, you died for us all.

Journey through the mind of Mili

For one of our first pieces of writing we had to write about ourselves.

Journey through the mind

Take a trip inside my mind,  it will seem crazy but fun.

At times my, mind thinks of unicorns flying all around, but then I switch back on and I'm doing my work.

I have a constant thought of a  monster sneaking up behind my back, I feel weird but freaked out!

I dream of an amazing dancer, “Welcome Mili Kitiona to the stage”.

It would be awesome.

I wonder sometimes why a unicorn has a horn, and why a cat has a tail.

My hope that in 10 or more years I could met a crazy alien.

I can often be found in the clouds thinking about my school work.

When no one is watching I sneak up behind them and give them a big fright.

This year I would like to work harder, concentrate and finish more.
